Download and Installation

This section will guide you through downloading Nukkit-MOT and completing the basic server setup.

Download Nukkit-MOT

You can obtain the latest version of Nukkit-MOT from the following sources:

CI builds ship two flavors of the jar, both running the same server:

  • Nukkit-MOT-SNAPSHOT.jar — the full build with all dependencies bundled, ready to run offline
  • Nukkit-MOT-SNAPSHOT-Lite.jar — a much smaller download. On the first start it automatically downloads the runtime dependencies (checksum-verified) into a lib folder in the server directory and then starts the server, so the first start requires internet access (download mirrors include Maven Central and repo.lanink.cn). Later starts detect the downloaded dependencies and start directly
tip

Not sure which one to pick? Use the full Nukkit-MOT-SNAPSHOT.jar.

Note

It's recommended to download from Jenkins CI for faster and more stable access.

Server Setup

Create Server Folder

  1. Create a new folder, for example NukkitServer
  2. Place the downloaded Nukkit-MOT-SNAPSHOT.jar file into this folder

Create Startup Script

To make starting the server easier, we need to create a startup script.

Windows Users

Create a new file named start.bat in the server folder with the following content:

@echo off
java -Xms1G -Xmx1G -jar Nukkit-MOT-SNAPSHOT.jar
pause

Linux/macOS Users

Create a new file named start.sh in the server folder with the following content:

#!/bin/bash
java -Xms1G -Xmx1G -jar Nukkit-MOT-SNAPSHOT.jar

Then grant execute permissions:

chmod +x start.sh
Memory Settings
  • -Xms1G: Sets initial memory to 1GB
  • -Xmx1G: Sets maximum memory to 1GB
  • Adjust according to your needs, e.g., -Xmx2G for maximum 2GB memory

First Startup

Start the Server

  • Windows: Double-click to run start.bat
  • Linux/macOS: Run ./start.sh in the terminal

Wait for Initialization

On the first startup, the server will:

  1. Automatically generate configuration files (server.properties, etc.)
  2. Create default world
  3. Load necessary resources

This process may take a few minutes.

Confirm Successful Startup

When you see a message similar to the following, it means the server has started successfully:

[main] [INFO]: Done (xx.xxs)! For help, type "help"

Shut Down the Server

After the first successful startup, it's recommended to shut down the server for configuration:

Type in the console:

stop

Wait for the server to completely shut down, then you can proceed with configuration.

Optional: Bin Data Files

If you plan to use plugins with custom blocks feature, you need to download the Bin data files:

  1. Download from Bin_Data Repository
  2. Place the bin folder in your server root directory

Your server directory should look like:

NukkitServer/
├── bin/ ← Required for custom blocks
│ ├── vanilla_palette_xxx.nbt
│ └── ...
├── plugins/
├── worlds/
└── Nukkit-MOT-SNAPSHOT.jar
tip

If you're not using any plugins that require custom blocks, you can skip this step.

Optional: Run with Docker

As an alternative to the manual setup above, you can run Nukkit-MOT with Docker:

docker run -d --name nukkit-mot \
-p 19132:19132/udp \
-p 19132:19132/tcp \
-v $(pwd)/data:/data \
-e JAVA_OPTS="-Xms2G -Xmx2G" \
--restart unless-stopped \
memoriesoftime/nukkit-mot:latest
  • :latest and :<short-sha> are development snapshots built from the master branch.
  • :1.26.30-R1 style tags are stable releases mirroring Maven Central.
  • All worlds, plugins, players and server.properties live under the /data volume.

Next Steps

After server installation is complete, you can proceed to Configure Server to customize your server settings.
